No Post Today

Dear readers,

For the second time in a short period, there will be no updates on The Presurfer. I had a short vacation a couple of weeks ago, this time is more serious. I've not been feeling well lateley. My breathing wasn't good enough and my staying power reduced. I also lost some weight.

So, yesterday I decided to call the family doctor. She immediately sent me to hospital for a more serious examination. There, a lung specialist took some photos and saw a small spot on my right lung.

This morning, I've been back to hospital for a blood test. I have to be back there again on Monday morning for a CT scan. After that we problaby will know a little bit more. Anyway, I need a break until I know what is wrong with me. In the meantime, let us hope for the best and thank you for your patience.

Short Vacation

Dear readers. For the first in time in 16 years, I am going to take a short vacation, meaning there will be no post for a couple of days.

I'll be back on Monday, 23 January. See you then!

The Presurfer Is 15 Years Old Today

The Presurfer is 15 years old today. Still here after all those years. Can't believe it myself. What started as a personal link page in 2000 is still going strong. Not because of what I do, but because of what you do. You visit this site and some of you have been doing that for many years. Thank you for your loyalty.

I never thought I could maintain this website for so long. But it's been fun the past 15 years and I'm still having a great time. It isn't always easy though, but fortunately a lot of people help me by sending links every now and then. I appreciate that very much. Thank you! You know who you are.

I'm not sure whether this is happening to everyone who has a blog on Blogspot, but I'm currently bombarded with spam comments. You wouldn't see them because comments are moderated. But I see them in my Content Management System and have to remove them manually.

Yesterday I had over 1,000 spam comments and the past hour I had to remove almost 200 of them. That's why I am disabling comments for the time being. At least until I know what's going on. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well, I'm back from my unplanned vacation. It was quite nice actually and there were withdrawal symptoms. :)

My new computer was delivered yesterday evening. It has an Intel Core i3-4330 CPU at 3.50 Ghz with 8 GB of RAM, an ASUS Radeon R7 250X graphics card and 2 hard drives with 1 terabyte each. Anyway, I'm glad I'm back to blogging and I would like to thank you for your patience.

All Comments Will Be Moderated From Now On

Dear readers. Lately The Presurfer has seen an increase in visitor numbers, up to 50,000 to 60,000 each day. Which also means an increase in spam comments. About 80% of these comments are caught in a spam filter but some of them keep slipping through. And some of them are offensive or sexually explicit. Since The Presurfer is a child-friendly weblog I can't allow this to happen.

Up until now, comments older than 1 day were moderated. From now on all comments will be moderated. Since I'm not in front of my computer 24/7, your comment will still be shown, just a little later. I'm sorry for any inconvenience but I don't want a child to read a comment with a link to adult content.
