As with many etymologies, the exact root of this word is difficult to say with one hundred percent certainty. However, the leading theory is extremely plausible and backed up by a fair bit of documented evidence. Specifically, it is thought that a dollar is called a 'buck' thanks to deer.

The price of computers has dramatically changed over the years. When PCs were first made available for purchase by consumers over 30 years ago, they were hefty machines that cost thousands of dollars each. Today, you can buy a new PC or laptop for less than $300.
However, there are still models that cost a ton of money either because they contain insane tech or insanely opulent features. Such PCs match the price of early computers, and some even cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Here are ten of the most expensive computers ever created.

Bitcoin: What It Is And How It Works
In 2008, a programmer issued a white paper in which he argued that we need an Internet currency not subject to the fees and permissions of third-party intermediaries.
So he came up with the digital equivalent of cash online, a system that lets participants send value to anyone else with a Bitcoin address the same way they might send an email. Bitcoin was invented by Satoshi Nakamoto which is probably a pseudonym for computer scientist Nick Szabo.

The 1988 Supreme Court ruling California v. Greenwood created legal precedent for dumpster diving. Under the ruling, anything thrown away in a public space is fair game. This kept the poor from being prosecuted, but it also opened the door for dumpster divers and treasure hunters.
Yes, hobbyists. Wired profiled a man who flips corporate trash as a side job, and makes three figures doing it. And while consistency counts, it's the big-ticket items that are really jaw dropping.

20 Luxury Products That Come At A Higher Cost Than You May Know

Luxury products all too often come at a cost much higher than their monastery value. Due to the amount of profit that can be made from luxury products many unscrupulous companies make use of less than ethical practices to get these products on the market.
Of course not all luxury products are unethical, but since it is extremely difficult to determine the origins of certain items or components there is always a risk they come at a higher cost than you may know.

10 Simple Typos With Surprisingly Huge Costs

In April, Hillary Clinton's campaign released a statement assuring supporters that their candidate had 'fought children and their families all her career.' The typo was soon detected and corrected, reassuring the public that the former senator and secretary of state did not plan to brawl with visiting families on the White House lawn.
But typographical errors have caused much bigger and costlier problems than a few embarrassing moments for a politician. Here are 10 simple typos with surprisingly huge costs.

How To Avoid Getting Pickpocketed
A couple centuries ago, pickpocketing was the scourge of cities around the world. From Dickens' London to New York City's famous Five Points, skilled thieves practiced their craft, filching the valuables of passersby without the victim noticing a thing.
In fact, that's how pockets in clothing got their start: Prior to the 17th century, men and women alike carried their valuables in purses outside the body; they then started tying pouches inside their clothes in an attempt to thwart would-be 'cutpurses' and thieves. To avoid finding yourself in that kind of aggravating mess, you simply need to take a few precautions that'll greatly reduce your vulnerability to pickpockets.
