You're Not Smart
Does your PHP network have double back-end XHTML redundancy? Is your PDA hard drive triple access enabled for Wi-Fi management? If you don't have end-point security in your adaptive architecture strategy, then you need us.
You don't understand things like Continuous Network Access Compliance Upload Speed (even though you pretend like you do at parties when people talk about it). You don't understand these things because you're not smart. But that's OK. We're smart. You can trust us.
If you hire us, you'll never see us in person. We might respond to your emails from time-to-time, but usually not. It's not that we're too busy to talk to you, it's just that your emails are usually so stupid that we're too busy laughing about them with everyone in the office.

The Laziest Camgirl Ever
Times were when a 'camgirl' had to do something to attract attention. Talk, walk around or whatever. This Japanese-American girl (or at least I think that's what she is) does absolutely nothing. Twenty-one year old MRirian, as she calls herself, just stares into the camera.
Still, in the past two months this 35 second video had 2,879,908 views. Maybe it's because she's so damn cute.

Photo Fakery

Like it or not, fake images are everywhere and have become a part of today's culture. Thanks to the popularity of digital cameras and the availability of desktop imaging software that allows users to easily manipulate images, fake images have become commonplace, especially on the Internet.
A fake image can be defined as an image of an object or scene that wasn't captured as the image would imply. In general, fake images are created to generate a deception, but not all fake images are bad. Identifying fake images can be straightforward if you know a few tricks.

Matt Nolan, a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, spends most of his time studying the changes in glaciers and his projects range from hydrology, limnology, and science outreach, to glaciology, which is his favorite.
Meltwater on the surface of the glaciers drains into small streams that feed into this large one, which has melted itself several meters into the glacier. The stream ends in a moulin - a more or less vertical shaft carrying this melted-water to the bottom of the glacier. Falling into this stream is not advised.

Graves With A 'Memorial Window'

Memorial Japanese stone maker Ishinokoe will soon begin producing grave stones with QR codes embedded in them.
They are calling the concept Kuyou no Mado, roughly meaning 'Memorial Service Window,' as visitors can scan the code with their mobiles and get information on the deceased.
Contents can include pictures, video, family information, and other items. While using a QR code for this may actually seem a bit outdated in a country of burgeoning RFID technology, they are simple and will likely be readable by generations of future devices.

Frozen Frogs

Frogs that survive freezing excite our imagination with visions of immortality. Underlining this excitement is the unexpected: our experience tells us that freezing kills. We've all read news stories of people who have lost fingers or toes to extreme cold, or even their lives. Thus, a whole animal that can survive freezing comes as a shock.
When the mercury falls, the common wood frog displays a rare trait called freeze tolerance. The animal becomes, to the eye and touch, a frog shaped ice cube.

Taxi Illumination In Japan

Prowling the city of Tokyo are hoards of taxis, chasing down lonely passengers on their way, to and fro. Characteristically, all are equipped with automatically opening doors and a driver's white gloves.
However, little distinguishes these roaring vehicles, classically Japanese, outside the small glowing beacon perched on the center of their tops - each company from every region set themselves apart with their own special logo and shape. How practical, since, from far, a passenger can see what type of ride they are in for that night.

The Great Tantra Challenge

The word 'tantra' is derived from the combination of two words 'tattva' and 'mantra.' 'Tattva' means the science of cosmic principles, while 'mantra' refers to the science of mystic sound and vibrations. It is also often accused of being a kind of black magic.
On 3 March 2008, in a popular TV show, Sanal Edamaruku, the president of Rationalist International, challenged India's most powerful tantrik to demonstrate his powers on him. That was the beginning of an unprecedented experiment.
After all his chanting of mantra and ceremonies of tantra failed, the tantrik decided to kill Sanal Edamaruku with the 'ultimate destruction ceremony' on live TV. Sanal Edamaruku agreed and sat in the altar of the black magic ritual.

What The World Will Look Like When We've Gone

What would the world look like when we've gone? How much would we leave behind? What would an alien visitor learn about us upon landing on our planet a century or more after we had disappeared from it? The answer, astonishingly, is: almost nothing.
Within a hundred years most traces of our modern-day lives would be so destroyed by weather, corrosion, earth tremors, surviving animals, insects and bacteria that the monuments and hieroglyphics of ancient civilisations would be better preserved than our buildings and our billions of books and electronic records.

The fliers clashed in the skies over southern France in July 1944. Rippert said: 'If I had known it was Saint-Exupery, I would never have shot him down. I loved his books. I knew he was a French pilot, but he was probably my favourite author at the time.'

Cows On The Moon

The reason why cows go 'Moo' is because they have trouble getting their tongue around saying the letter N. If it weren't for this unfortunate speech impediment we'd understand that they were trying to say Moon.
Cows, or 'Cosmocows' as they prefer to be known, have been exploring the lunar surface for years. Their hooves are perfectly adapted to the dusty lunar surface and they have learnt to use their ears as stabilisers.

The House In The Clouds

Walking towards the 'House in the Clouds' in Thorpeness, a village in Suffolk, England, for the first time can be a confusing experience if you approach from the right angle as the otherwise normal-looking home appears to either float above the trees or perch on a non-existent hill behind the surrounding greenery.
What you're actually looking at is the top of an old 30,000 gallon water tower, brilliantly designed 85 years ago by architects who were asked to disguise what would have been an ugly 70ft high blot on the landscape.

Diseases Of the Mind: Highlights of American Psychiatry Through 1900

Over the ages, philosophers, theologians, and physicians had accepted insanity disorders within their purview. By the late 18th century, however, the first two had largely withdrawn and physicians, social activists, and the state took responsibility for the care and treatment of the mentally ill.
Psychiatry in the 19th century was based primarily in mental hospitals. The later-organized profession of neurology claimed a role in treating mentally disordered people usually on an outpatient basis. While relations between psychiatry and neurology have waxed and waned during the subsequent years, by the end of the 20th century medical advances have brought the two together in a new field of neuroscience.

Snoring, belching, a growling tummy, passing gas, and joints that crackle. Why does that happen, what to do about it, and when to get help.

Password Strength Checker

Password strength is the amount of security a password can provide against password-guessing attacks. It can be measured in bits of entropy, effectively a measure of how random a password appears to an attacker.
There are still people who use the name of their spouse as a password. Or the brand of their car, or the name of their cat. Password Strength Checker is designed to assess the strength of password strings.
The instantaneous visual feedback provides the user a means to improve the strength of their passwords, with a hard focus on breaking the typical bad habits of faulty password formulation.

All cultures have hairstyles. An adult's hairstyle is a personal statement about who he or she has chosen to become.
A flattop seems to say, 'I work hard and play hard. I'm a survivor. I am self-sufficient. I live intensely.' In the mid-1950's, the flattop was the most popular men's hairstyle in the United States. Many of the US astronauts, past and present, have worn flattops.

Tommy Westphall was an austistic child on the TV series St Elsewhere who, it was revealed in the closing moments of the final episode of that series, had dreamt the entire run of the show. St Elsewhere has direct connections to twelve other television series - many of them direct crossovers of character to and from the series.
If St Elsewhere exists only within Tommy Westphall's mind, then so does every other series set within the same fictional sphere. Some of the links are direct, some series spin off entire other series, obviously expanding their fictional universes.

The Seekers - The Carnival Is Over
The Seekers were a group of Australian folk-influenced popular musicians. The group was formed in 1962. They were the first Australian popular music group to achieve significant chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Their most famous configuration was with Judith Durham: lead vocals, Athol Guy: double bass, vocals, Keith Potger: twelve string guitar, banjo, vocals, and Bruce Woodley: guitar, mandolin, banjo, vocals.
This video is from their farewell concert in London, July 7 1968. 'The Carnival is Over' was written by Tom Springfield and the melody is based on a old Russian folk song. In my opinion one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Face In Hole
Wouldn't it be great if you could be a different person everyday? Many of us have tried to manipulate pictures in order to try something different or just to have fun. But not only it takes loads of hard work but also the results aren't usually all that great.
With Face In Hole you can easily create a totally 'new look' for you and your friends. You just have to select a scenario, upload and adjust a photo (or use your webcam) and there you have it, a great picture that you can send to your friends, post in your blog or make available to the world.
That's me in the picture above as Austin Powers.

Athlete Superstitions
When you're an athlete you have to spend hours working and dedicating yourself completely to your sport. Success is always in reach, not because you practice so much or because of your natural talent. But because of your lucky pair of underwear.
Superstition plays an important part in the lives of athletes. Rituals can be seen everywhere. Jumping over the baselines when taking the field in baseball? Pretty standard. Wearing the same cup from high school on through your pro career like Mark McGwire reportedly did? Here are ten of the most absurd superstitions.

The Man Who Can Withstand Freezing Temperatures

Dutchman Wim Hof, also known as the Iceman, is the man that swam under ice, and stood in bins filled with ice. He climbed the Mt. Blanc in shorts in the icy cold, harvested world records and always stands for new challenges.
Scientists can't really explain it, but the 48-year-old Dutchman is able to withstand, and even thrive, in temperatures that could be fatal to the average person.

Wikipedia Article Traffic Statistics

What do Wikipedia's readers care about? Is Britney Spears more popular than Brittany? Is Asia Carrera more popular than Asia? How many people looked at the article on Santa Claus in December? How many looked at the article on Ron Paul?
Enter a wikipedia article title and see how many times it has been viewed. There is also a list of the most viewed pages that told me that an article on canine reproduction has been viewed 1,955.436 times in Februari 2008.

ManagedQ

ManagedQ's goal is to be the Internet's first search application dedicated to helping you manage your entire search experience: from the keyword, to results, to previewing, to refinement and repeating with a new query.
ManagedQ starts with a keyword, but from there on everything is different. Firstly, each result comes with a large screenshot to give you a better idea of what's on the other end of that link. The entire result is then downloaded to your browser and scanned to find the important ideas and concepts, presenting them to you in what is called the Executive Summary.

Badges Of Secrecy
The emblems' origins remain somewhat mysterious, but the nature of some of the Pentagon's most top-secret missions has now been revealed via a series of cryptic badges that depict aleisn, spy satellites, cyberattacks, and covert renditions to allude to the 'black world' that inspired them.
Author Trevor Paglen, who happened upon the patches while conducting research on secret military locations, showcases his collection in a new book, 'I Could Tell You But Then You Would Have to be Destroyed by Me.' In an audio narration he explains the significance of some of the insignia.

Yuno PC

The Yuno is the perfect personal computer for any professional business person or anyone who is always on the go. Not only is it a mug for your morning beverage, it is also a touchscreen display for only the information you want to see, so you are not bound to a desktop during your morning routine.
All it takes are a few touches to display what you want and then you leave it. It then becomes an incredibly informative beverage mug. The Yuno is perhaps the most intuitive computer, because not only does it work without you operating it, you drink from it increasing the user interface on another level.

Poop For Peace Day
Better jot this down in your agenda.
April 18 is Poop For Peace Day.
Poop is the one experience all human beings have in common. We may have varying ideas of God and politics, but the power of an impending poop is a higher calling to which every human must answer.
Side by side in a public bathroom, any two human beings are stripped of their differences and reduced to their most basic essence: a pair of feet sticking out below the stall, and a pair of butt trumpets performing a greasy symphony to lament humanity's non-negotiable deference to the call of the vile.
