Objectum-Sexuality

Objectum-Sexuality, or objectophilia, is an orientation to love objects. OS people feel a strong attraction towards objects possessing, in particular, certain geometry/function. Often this attraction is regarded as an obsession to a degree that provokes criticism.

Here are 3 examples of Objectum-Sexuality.

Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer.

Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer, 54, whose surname means Berlin Wall in German, wed the concrete structure in 1979 after being diagnosed with a condition called Objectum-Sexuality. Mrs Berliner-Mauer claimed she fell in love with the structure when she first saw it on television when she was seven.

She began collecting 'his' pictures and saving up for visits. On her sixth trip in 1979 they tied the knot before a handful of guests. She insists she has a full, loving relationship with the wall.
Mrs Berliner-Mauer, who lives in Liden, northern Sweden, said: I find long, slim things with horizontal lines very sexy. The Great Wall of China is attractive, but he's too thick – my husband is sexier.

Erika La Tour Eiffel

Erika La Tour Eiffel, 36, is an ex-US Army soldier living in San Francisco. She is also a former world champion in archery – propelled to success, she believes, by her love for Lance, a bow.

She now claims to be married to the Eiffel Tower, following a ceremony with friends last year in Paris, at which she promised eternal love to the iron monument and changed her name legally to reflect the bond. Erika La Tour Eiffel says: There is a huge problem with being in love with a public object, she says sadly. The issue of intimacy – or rather lack of it – is forever present.

Sandy K.

Ever since she was eight years old, Sandy K., 25, from Berlin, Germany, was hopelessly in love with New York's Twin Towers.

For Sandy, the attraction to things is so overpowering, she confesses: When it comes to love, I am only attracted to objects. I couldn't imagine a love affair with a human being.
