Redonda is a tiny island southwest of Antigua, only one square mile in size. In 1865 a trader named Matthew Dowdy Shiell was sailing his ship past Redonda and he promptly annexed the island so that his newly born son, Matthew Phipps Shiell, could one day become King of Redonda.
Since then, there have been 4 kings of Redonda. The current king is Robert the Bald (pictured here). The population of Redonda is zero. Even the King prefers to live elswhere. There can only seagulls and goats to be found.
