If We Had No Moon
The Earth has a large moon, making it unique in the inner solar system. The father of the SMART-1 lunar mission, Bernard Foing of the European Space Agency, looks at the effect the Moon has had on the Earth, and explores how different our world would be if we had no planetary companion.
So, would life have evolved differently, or even appeared on

No Cussing Club
I won't cuss, swear, use bad language, or tell dirty jokes. Clean language is the sign of intelligence and always demands respect. I will use my language to uplift, encourage and motivate. I will Leave People Better Than I Found Them!
14 Year old McKay Hatch started the No Cussing Club at his junior high school in South Pasadena, California in 2007. A lot of kids at his school would cuss and use dirty language all the time.
It bothered him so much that one day he challenged them to stop. But some of the kids said they didn't know how to stop. That's when he started the No Cussing Club.

The Art Of Sharpening Pencils
Welcome to the world of pencil sharpening. This may sound like a dull topic but there is actually a lot more to it than you think. There are a number of different sharpening styles and methods; all good artists should know them. The trick is using the right one at the right time.
There are four main points to select from; the one you choose will depend on the type of pencil you use, and the style of your drawing. These are: the standard point, the chisel point, the needle point, and the bullet point.

Franz Xaver Messerschmidt
Franz Xaver Messerschmidt (1736 - 1783) was a German sculptor most famous for his 'character heads,' a collection of busts of faces contorted in extreme facial expressions.
In 1770 Messerschmidt began to work on his so-called character heads, obviously connected with certain paranoid ideas and hallucinations from which, at the beginning of the seventies, the master began to suffer.

Haunted Swing
An out-of-control playground swing has spooked families and police in Argentina. The swing rocks back and forwards without being touched - and anxious parents have decided the playground must be haunted. In an attempt to explain the swing's mysterious movement, police called in physics professors. But even they have been unable to explain the why the swing keeps moving.
Residents claim the middle swing in a playground in the north-eastern town of Firmat can keep moving continuously for ten days before suddenly coming to a halt. You have to watch 1 minute into the video to see the swing start moving.

New Nazca Lines Discovered
The Nazca Lines are a series of geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert, a high arid plateau between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on the Pampas de Jumana in Peru. They were created by the Nazca culture between 200 BC and 700 AD.
The Nazca lines cannot be recognized as coherent figures except from the air. Since it is presumed the Nazca people could never have seen their work from this vantage point, there has been much speculation on the builders' abilities and motivations.
Now, for the firs time since almost 30 years, a new giant picture has been discovered by a team of Japanese researchers.

Naked Mole Rat Might Hold Key To Longevity
Who would have thought that the secrets to long life might exist in the naked, wrinkled body of one of the world's ugliest animals? Probably not many, but current research may be leading seekers of the Fountain of Youth to a strange little beast - the naked mole rat.
A key component in the aging of any species is oxidative damage, where the cells accrue damage from poisons, environmental toxins and other effects throughout life. Naked mole rats appear to deal with oxidative stress in pulses, largely due to their ability to essentially shut down their metabolism when there are hardships, such as lack of food.

The Flight To Nowhere
Indian entrepreneur Bahadur Chand Gupta has given a new twist to the concept of low-cost airlines. The passengers boarding his Airbus 300 in Delhi do not expect to go anywhere because it never takes off. All they want is the chance to know what it is like to sit on a plane, listen to announcements and be waited on by stewardesses bustling up and down the aisle.
In a country where 99% of the population have never experienced air travel, the 'virtual journeys' of Bahadur Chand Gupta, a retired Indian Airlines engineer, have proved a roaring success. Gupta charges $4 each for passengers taking the 'journey.'

One of the best pranks I have ever seen. It's in German so I'll explain first. A restroom, a mirror, and a young woman putting on make-up. Only the mirror is not a real mirror, but a sheet of glass.
The restroom on the other side is exactly the same but build in reflection. And the young lady is not alone, on the other side of the sheet of glass is her twin sister.

Ten Greatest Robberies Of All Time
24 Hours before the start of hostilities on March, 2003, Saddam Hussein made a withdrawal from the Central Bank of Iraq of $1 Billion. Only it wasn't his, it belonged to the nation of Iraq, making it the biggest bank job in history.
US troops recovered $650 million hidden in a palace in Baghdad, but the remaining money has not yet been recovered. The general manager of the al-Rafidain Bank later claimed that professional robbers took advantage of the chaos brought on by the war to rob his bank of a further $250 million.

Visual And Audio Test
A study conducted at Bly University has indicated a direct correlation between visual/audio recognition and general intelligence in adult males and females. The theory concludes that the better a person sees and hears, the more intelligent that person is - due to the fact that information enters the brain for comprehension quicker, if only by microseconds.
The study compared adult male and female college graduates and found that males processed the information faster 63% of the time. A subsequent intellingence test revealed that the males had an average IQ approximately 11 points higher than the females tested.

The 15 Most Common White Lies And Why
Stretching the truth is a natural component of human instinct because it's the easy way out. We all do it, so there is no reason to deny it. Everyone tells a white lie on occasion, it's just a question of why. Some white lies save relationships, some ease a hectic situation, and others buy us time.
Some examples are: Yeah, you look great in that dress, I'm 29, and No, officer… I have no idea how fast I was going.

Steve's Vintage Color TV Page
Color television in the United States has a most interesting history. Several systems were proposed and one, the incompatible CBS field sequential system, was actually in use, for a short time, in 1951 before proving impractical.
The ultimate winner in this contentious race to bring practical color television to the American home was the RCA/NTSC compatible color system. Steve Dichter's Vintage Color TV Page is all about that shakey start and the vain attempt of the industry to market color television, in the mid 1950's, to a viewing public already awash and pretty satisfied with black and white TV.

The Truth About Black Helicopters
Black Helicopters are not just helicopters with a black paint-job as you may have been told. They are, in fact, autonomous agents - lifeforms - created by New World Order agencies via nanobiotechnology.
Their primary purpose is to spy on the activities of average citizens in order to gather tactical information and discover 'subversives' who are not bowing to the will of the Liberati's UN-backed Federal Government.
To protect oneself from Black Helicopters, Black Helicopter Swatters are vital. Similar to common flyswatters, they can be used to fend off aerial attacks, disperse swarms, or dispatch resting Black Helicopters if you catch them unawares. However, make sure your aim is true, otherwise you will only anger them.

This isn't about how quickly you can get drunk; nor are we talking about drinks with bad ass names like Snake Bite or Mind Eraser. This is a list of the classics. The drinks of wise, confident men. Drinks that have been around for ages. Think Frank Sinatra, James Bond, Ernest Hemingway, Winston Churchill.

The Rat Princess Portraits
A portrait collection of children with rats.Always wash the childs hands and face to ensure that the pet won't smell food odors and attempt to lick or nip the child thinking he is being offered a snack. It is best to keep any animals away from the faces of small children.
Always make sure that the child and the animal involved are calm and good natured. Be responsible and safe during any photo sessions. Don't forget to get parental permission if the child is not yours.

10 Most Incredible Things To Do Before You Die
Diving with sharks, dock with the International Space Station, take a ride on a Russian Mig-fighter Jet, climb the Great Pyramid of Egypt.
It would cost a pretty penny to engage in most of these activities, but what the heck, you can't take it with you anyway and if you should die in pursuit of completing this list, then you'll have died doing what only a handful of other people have done in their lifetime.

The Happy Endings Foundation
The Happy Endings Foundation (THEF) believes children's books should only have happy endings. THEF was originally founded in 2000 by Adrienne Small after she read the first book in A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket to her daughter.
As well as making her feel thoroughly miserable, Mrs Small noticed her daughter seemed to take a more negative approach to life. Sadly, this situation worsened substantially, as her daughter subsequently read all 13 books in the series.
Mrs Small has now left her career as a tax inspector to focus on THEF full-time. She plans to rewrite all 13 Lemony Snicket books to give them happy endings.

MotionPortrait
From the 'technology so scary maybe it shouldn't exist' department comes a new photo imaging product called MotionPortrait.
Originally developed by the Sony-Kihara Research Center and acquired by a new Japanese company calling itself MotionPortrait, the technology takes one photo and instantly transforms it into a fully realized 3D model that can be animated, placed into another 3D environment, synced with sound, and programmed to respond to various user input.
Here's a video example of the technology applied to an Anime character.

Food Frauds
Kellogg's Special K Fruit & Yogurt. The company touts that the 'cereal combines the crunch of whole grain goodness, the smooth creaminess of yogurt and the sweet taste of berries….'
Yet there is more refined rice than whole grain wheat, no berries (just dyed apple pieces), and no yogurt (just yogurt powder that is usually heat treated, killing any beneficial bacteria) in the cereal.
More Food Frauds.

The Best And Worst Logo Remakes Of The Century
There are some logo remakes that should be praised, and there are some that should be hazed. When it comes to re-branding a corporate identity, you would imagine that the CEO would take great care in making such a decision.
In some cases, this is not true. In fact, there are many cases where you begin to question the sobriety of those in charge when they decided to remake their brand.
