The January 2007 Boston bomb scare occurred when Boston police officers mistakenly identified small electronic devices found throughout Boston as improvised explosive devices.The suspicious devices turned out to be battery-powered LED placards with an image of a cartoon character called a 'mooninite' used in a guerrilla marketing campaign for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, a film based on the animated TV series Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Cartoon Network.

Why is it, whenever the Boston bomb scare story is mentioned (and usually immediately made fun of), that no one ever seems to include the fact that the whole thing started with two fake pipe bombs that were intended to look like real ones, and had nothing to do with the ATHF signs?
