The Inca Trail is by far the most famous trek in South America and is rated by many to be in the top 5 treks in the world. In just 26 miles (43km) it manages to combine beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest, subtropical jungle, and, of course, a stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins, and tunnels.
Vinicunca is a mountain pass located about a four-hour drive southeast of Cusco city, in the opposite direction of Machu Picchu, and the famous Humantay Lake. Known more commonly by locals as La MontaƱa de Siete Colores (mountain of seven colors) and by travellers as the Rainbow Mountain Peru or Cerro Vinincunca, the geographical wonder is famous for its rainbow tonality- a surreal natural phenomenon of mineral deposits streaked across sandstone rock.
