The Plane Highway In The Sky

Over the North Atlantic, where there is no radar coverage, planes don't fly like they normally fly. They follow a set of daily tracks that act like highways in the sky.

Excellent. Well done.

May I offer a few corrections? At the beginning in the upper right of the screen, you show "EST", which is Eastern STANDARD time. We are currently on DAYLIGHT SAVINGS, so the time should be given as EDT. But rather than change these designations twice a year, simply show the time as ET.

You often use the redundant expression "exact same". Something is exact or same, but both together are redundant.

You showed the BA flight in a 200mph jet stream and was traveling at 745 MPH. This was his OVER THE WATER speed, not his air speed. I had the same thing happen from Sydney to Christchurch several years ago. His speed through the air was more like 545mph.

You mention that the BA flight set a new recored. Another redundancy. If it is a record, it's automatically new. So someone simply sets a record.

Finally, you say that the jet stream is about three miles high and a 100 miles wide. Three miles high is about 15,000 feet. No aircraft flies at 15,000 feet. They travel at about 31,000 to 41,000 feet in altitude.

Thank you for allowing these remarks!
