Solving The Mystery Of Early Polar Exploration Through Stamps

Just about every year since the 1980s, an illuminating piece of polar post turns up in someone's attic. The American Society of Polar Philatelists is an organization of 220 independent stamp collectors interested in mail and polar history.

Polar philately, the art of studying delicate slips of paper that have withstood thousands of miles and perhaps hundreds of years, provides a glimpse into the sheer bravado of the age of polar exploration.
