De Loys' Ape, given the proposed scientific names Ameranthropoides loysi and Ateles loysi, is an alleged large primate reported by Swiss geological explorer Fran├žois de Loys in South America in 1920.

In 1998, historians Pierre Centlivres and Isabelle Girod published an article suggesting that the entire story of the strange encounter was a fraud perpetuated by Swiss anthropologist George Montandon.
