A French company has a cute solution to this problem: EP Tender, a generator housed in a little two-wheeled trailer pulled by your EV.

Yes, "cute" is the right word indeed. As in "it's cute... but it's WRONG!"
Perhaps the generator could be built directly into the vehicle along with a supply of fuel for the generator (say, gasoline for example). You could give the vehicle a name that reflects the dual source of power (perhaps "hybrid"). Wait a minute...
