Can You Be Addicted To Your Lip Balm?

Your lips are dry, so you apply a little something soothing from a tube or a tiny jar or one of those weird golf ball things. But as soon as it wears off, you need more. The cycle repeats all winter. Are you practicing responsible skin care, or have you become addicted?

Some physicians have suggested that certain types of lip balm can be addictive or contain ingredients that actually cause drying. Lip balm manufacturers sometimes state in their FAQs that there is nothing addictive in their products or that all ingredients are listed and approved by the FDA.

Yes you can. I had to use it for several years while living in California and could not leave the house without it. The dry air would chap my lips bad. It to several years after moving back to Virginia to ween myself off.
