You may know of Anita Pointer from The Pointer Sisters as the lead vocalist and writer for the iconic 1980s pop hit 'I’m So Excited.' But what you might not know is that she grew up experiencing Jim Crow segregation in the 1950s, joined the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, and now collects antiques with racist caricatures that remind her of the ongoing struggle for equality.

In an interview with Collectors Weekly Anita Pointer explains how these antiques make her feel in the context of the Charleston massacre and the #BlackLivesMatter protests against police violence.
