Petrol retailer Gull has partnered with beer company DB Export to become the first service station in New Zealand to offer a beer byproduct to fill cars. The biofuel product is made from yeast leftovers and has been dubbed 'Brewtroleum.'
During the process, high-grade ethanol is extracted from the yeast slurry byproduct that would otherwise go to waste. After this, the ethanol is distilled and then blended with high-octane petrol to create bioethanol capable of running a car's engine.
