Think of the Wild West, and images of popular folk heroes and outlaws like Billy the Kid, Jesse James and Wyatt Earp will no doubt spring to mind, bringing with them rip-roaring tales of bank-robbing bandits and loyal lawmen. A great many of these stories have been appropriated by Hollywood to bring the Western genre to the silver screen.
