Some time in the 19th century (probably around 1852), a mason has placed a ladder up against the wall of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. No one is sure who he was, or more importantly, to which sect he belonged.
The ladder cannot be moved due to conflicts between the Armenian and Greek Orthodox church. No cleric of the six ecumenical Christian orders may move, rearrange, or alter any property without the consent of all six orders. So the ladder remains there to this date.
