Car Racing Pit Stops 1950 Vs Today

Observe how the art of the pit stop has evolved since 1950. The first pit stop is from the Indianapolis 500 from 1950 (at that time part of the Formula 1 championship), the second one is from the Australian Grand Prix of 2013.

It's a bit disappointing that the 2013 pit stop shown here doesn't include refueling (or at least I can't seem able to notice it). That would have been a more meaningful comparison.

no need to refuel saves a lot of time...

I disagree with anonymous. On full tanks you can be running about seven seconds slower a lap. We know that have to pit at least once for tires. So the first half race you are at least two minutes slower than you are in the second half of the race because of the weight of the fuel. Considering it would take no longer than 12 seconds to refuel, it is faster to have refueling.
I've been an F1 fanatic since Villeneuve was driving for Enzo.
