With over 10 feet of snow in 10 days, helicopter avalanche control work was needed on the backside of Stevens Pass (a mountain pass through the Cascade Mountains Washington, USA) to help protect lives and property by mitigating the risk of a natural avalanche traveling into the ski resort area.
