The whole thing was done digitally - and the supposed software used was created as part of the music video directly, so it wasn't like someone had a new version of photoshop and began making changes which then kept going during the video. This was clever, but was actually a computer animation done during the production phase. There are even a few frames where you can see the CGI overlay before they blend. Cool though.
