History Of Telecommunications

Telecommunication is communication at a distance by technological means, particularly through electrical signals or electromagnetic waves. Early telecommunication technologies included visual signals, such as beacons, smoke signals, semaphore telegraphs, signal flags, optical heliographs, audio messages such as coded drumbeats, lung-blown horns, and loud whistles.

When we think of modern telecommunications, however, most of us think of electricity. But when exactly did telecommunications begin?
