The Old Way Of Photo Retouching

Photo retouching is the application of image editing techniques to photographs in order to create an illusion or deception. Today, there are a myriad of ways to achieve a certain result. But before computers, photo manipulation was achieved by retouching with ink, paint, double-exposure, piecing photos or negatives together in the darkroom, or scratching Polaroids.

Gene Gable of CreativePro.com recently came across a 1946 book on the art of photo retouching written by Raymond Wardell. He was a true illustrator and artist who could dramatically change a photograph using the simplest of tools and a steady hand.
