This is not as dumb as it sounds. Since many holidays fall on Monday, classes that meet on Monday can get shortchanged. If, for example, a school doesn't hold its Monday classes on Martin Luther King Day, it can make a certain amount of sense to hold Monday classes the day after Presidents' Day and to NOT hold the Tuesday classes that week. (Also called spreading the pain around.)
