The Amazing Ribbon Eel

The ribbon eel is a species of saltwater eel, native to the Indian and Pacific oceans. The ribbon eel is an elegant creature with a long, thin body and high dorsal fins. The ribbon eel can easily be recognised by its expanded anterior nostrils.

When I worked at a tropical fish shop we'd sometimes have these. They were pugnacious little guys- one time I was cleaning the algae in an adjoining tank and one popped his head out of the water and bit my arm.

I'd say it can be easily recognised by the fact that it looks like a ribbon.
