The only reason I can think for these to get published is that they are so neutral and bland that they can't offend anyone. Honestly, I've never read a more unfunny cartoon than this. It's worse than Garfield. Normally, when you read an unfunny comic strip, you just go 'meh' and move on. But this takes it to a whole new level. You actually stop and read the strip again, because you can't comprehend the total lack of good humor in such a compact package. It's like the cartoonist would draw a picture, come up with a hundred different punchlines and then pick the worst one. The one that won't offend anyone, but sure as heck won't make anyone laugh either.
Let's take this strip for an example: it takes place in a company conference room and we see a chart of the company's performance: it goes down and then curves a little bit up. The protagonist says: "Things went from bad to worse, but we're hopeful that we're doing badly again." If I can understand correctly, the joke here lies in the phrasing of the sentence, that "doing badly" was a hopeful thing. The equivalent would be "I had a fever which developed into pneumonia, but now I hope I only have fever again." See? It's not funny.
THIS. IS. NOT. FUNNY.
Otherwise I love your blog. But these cartoons just ruin my day. Every time I see one, I feel like a small part of my sense of humor withers away, just for despair and shared sense of shame.
