The South Pole On Google Street View

Yesterday, Google is launching a new collection of hi-res imagery from the Antarctic, including Robert Falcon Scott's hut, Ernest Shackleton's hut, the ceremonial South Pole, and a penguin rookery. Google captured the 360-degree panoramas with a tripod-mounted fisheye camera.

Very nice!

What's missing is the sound of the wind and blowing snow, the squeak and crack of the sea ice, and the smell of penguin guano, wood, and rotting seal blubber, and the sharp, cold snap of the South Pole air.
