Nationwide was a BBC News and Current affairs television programme broadcast on BBC One each weekday following the early evening news. It ran from 1969 until 1983. Here's an item from 1974 where Tony McCabe from Manchester demonstrates how to jump on eggs without breaking them.

But... he's not actually jumping on them. He's hopping over them and tapping the bloody egg with his foot. Just goes to show shoddy reporting was in vogue decades ago, not just today.
Even the reporter is thinking "So that's it????. Lame"
