Collapsing Cooling Towers

A campaign from energy company Ecotricity. Featuring the hapless crumbling cooling towers of the 'Big Six' UK energy utilities, the campaign evokes the idea of abandoning an outdated energy system that is doing more harm than good.

why did they have to put faces on them. That makes me sad, now.

As if they all can be replaced by three windturbines.

Great animation. Stupid idea. You would have to cover your entire country with wind turbines just to make the same amount of electricity a single nuclear facility produces.

The faces also made me sad, and it also reminded me too much of the WTC towers coming down.

The first pair were the Athlone Power Station cooling towers in Cape Town, South Africa. Nothing to do with the "Big 6".

The Athlone power station was made redundant by the Koeberg nuclear power station about 20 kilometres away, not by ugly bird-killing towers.

Sad... power stations are cool.
