The World's Smallest Vertebrate

Louisiana State University herpetologist Chris Austin recently discovered a new species of frog, now the world's tiniest known vertebrate, averaging only 7.7 millimeters in size (0.30 inches). Named Paedophryne amauensis, the new species of frog was discovered in Papua New Guinea, where it lives in leaf detritus on the rainforest floor.
