Remember To Wipe Your Keyboard

Do you know what the dirtiest device in your house is? The TV remote. Are you aware that the average keyboard is five times dirtier and has 60 times more germs on it than a toilet seat? That's 150 times over the acceptable limit for bacteria. And that a light switch has 217 bacteria per square inch? And that 16% of cell phones were found to have poop on them?

This infographic reveals the specs of our tech gadgets we don't really want to know.

I think the message here is that toilet seats are much easier to clean than keyboards. You can just wipe down your toilet seat with a little bleach. You can't do that with a keyboard.

Maybe somebody should invent a keyboard that's as easy to clean as a toilet seat.

i think, too, we need to understand something very fundamental. if there's fecal bacteria on your phone, or ty remote, it's YOUR fecal bacteria. as disgusting as it is, you can't kill yourself with your own bacteria. not all e. coli is dangerous.

if you want to be weired out even more, i'd ask you to think about your toothbrush. it's out all day after having scoured your mouth of bacteria. it sits in the open air next to the toilet. it's not a likelihood, it's a CERTAINTY that your toothbrush is swimming in fecal bacteria. every time the toilet flushes, water vapor carries bacteria into the air.

better toss that toothbrush into the dishwasher on 'sanitize' every now and then.
