How do you get an 80' rig through the 65' bridges of the Intracoastal Waterway? With balls filled with two tons of water. The balls get swung out with an initial turn to port or stbd. The tendency then is for the roll to continue by itself, but is controlled by letting the bags out slowly with a line made off to each bag and running through necessary tackle to a cockpit winch.

Genius! Reminds me of the story where an 18-wheeler was stuck beneath a bridge, with the driver and highway patrol fretting on the best way to remedy the situation. The solution came from a small boy who told them ....let some of the air out of the tires...
Seems like a very complicated way of achieving it to me. Maybe they should have asked the little boy that ax2usn mentioned. The simplest way is usually the best, and that sure ain't simple.
Seems like the time for the development of telescoping and locking masts is way over due. Doesn't that create incredible stress on the masts and potentially cause them to break under repeated application of "boat balls"?
