Microsoft Mistakenly Reveals Social Network Prototype
Microsoft is positioning itself to compete for social networking web space, a recent leak suggests. On Thursday, the computer giant accidentally published a splash page advertising a social project under to the Microsoft-owned domain name socl.com. The project, entitled Tulilip, promised to let users 'find what you need and share what you know easier than ever'.
The page was swiftly removed by Microsoft and replaced with a message saying: Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn't mean to, honest.

They're a few years behind the curve on that one, and still addicted to the word "social" as in their lame campaign for the Zune "Welcome to the social."
The people who most use social media don't refer to it by that phrase. They call it "Facebook" or "MySpace" or what have you. Microsofties just don't seem to invest much time or interest in actually knowing the people who are their target demographic.
