How To Lower The Temperature Inside Your Car

You come back to your car only to find it's very hot inside because the vehicle has been standing in the sun for some time. You could turn on the air conditioning. But there's a better way to lower the temperature inside your car. Open the window on the driver's side. Then open and close the door on the other side five times or more.

Tried it today, didn't work particularly well. It certainly didn't work as well as driving for a few minutes with the windows open. I suspect this is because the interior trim of your car gets good and hot when left in the sun on a hot day and this continues to heat the air in your car.

Definitely not as effective as using a/c. Bear in mind that this trick can't make the temperature in your car lower than the armospheric temperature - a/c can drop the temperature inside your car to way below the outside temperature. Sure it uses fuel, but who cares about emissions?

If it's a hatchback, opening the boot and one or both front doors works really well.
