This alarm clock provides a powerful incentive to wake up. It shreds money. The clock is probably a design concept as there's no sign of a version for sale, nor any mention of who made it. Besides that, willfully destroying U.S. currency is a federal crime.

Destroying US currency is not a federal crime. You can destroy and/or deface it. What you can't do is alter or deface it with the intent to defraud or pass it on AS currency. That's why they can make jewelry out of coins, and places can put any picture you want on a bill, and there are machines that smash pennies and print stuff on them.
