The problem with these stunts is that they are always done with multiple camera cuts. As such they always appear to be simple camera tricks, no matter how the trick is achieved.
Give that you can "see the join" as it were it's fairly clear how that was done. But the constant camera cuts make it look less clever than it actually is.
