The Fishbowl Sink

The Fishbowl Sink is a concept from designer Yan Lu, created to make you think about how much water you use when you are washing your hands. The sink has a fishbowl on top of it, and the more water you use, the lower the level in the fishbowl gets.

Once the fishbowl reaches a certain level it will fill back up, so the water never goes too low for the goldfish. The water you wash your hands with isn't actually from the fish bowl but it is designed to look like that.

However not everybody knows: that fish will die anyway. Big glass bulb is not enough for even a gold fish. It needs to be equiped with filter etc.

To the first poster. Has it not occurred to you that the water may be filtered as it passes down into the assembly? We have a terrific tank in the office with no apparent filtration or aeration as that task is all carried out within the plinth upon which the tank stands.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I had a goldfish as a child that lived for 15 years in a tank with no filter or aeration. Every few weeks it was emptied and refilled with fresh tap water. Sounds horrific to the modern fish keeper, but BITD fish were bred much hardier.

The only problem is that the goldfish has to be fake otherwise it would die very quickly from the constant influx of chemically treated water and cold/hot temperatures.
