Jay Shafer has been living in a house smaller than some people's closets since 1997. His decision to inhabit just 89 square feet arose from some concerns he had about the impact a larger house would have on the environment, and because he does not want to maintain a lot of unused or unusable space.

I think that would suit me pretty well, if I were alone.
Throw another permanent resident in there, though, and I'd last a few days before killing them. Or I'd camp outside, just to get away.
Fascinating stuff, though.
Gypsies lived in wagons simler to this whats so new and ENVIROMENTALY GREAT about a house on wheels.OH YEAH THE YUPPIE AGAIN!Discovers yet another thing to hack up prices.
I hate to burst the guys bubble, but that's just a caravan / RV-trailer. A rather ornate and very well appointed one, but a caravan all the same. (A small number of) People have been living in such things for donkey's years. 6 x 15ft (at a guess of the size, i had to watch it mute) sounds like a fairly standard size for one of those, if a bit on the unusually small size. Really shouldn't need a big, environmentally damaging pickup truck to pull it with, a pokey little hatchback (or a horse) would be sufficient. I will admit, however, that roofspace bedroom is ingenious and works far better than the Top Gear effort along the same lines. It could catch on if he were to try selling the idea to major caravan manufacturers...
