A Bike You Can Fold Around A Lamp Post

British designer Kevfin Scott has invented a folding bicycle that will stop thieves in their tracks. He designed a bike that wraps around a lamp post so it can be locked-up safely - without the need for a lock or chain.

Scott used a ratchet system built into the frame of the bike to allow it to wrap around a pole, enabling the lock to be wrapped through both wheels and the frame.

The top and down tubes of a bicycle frame would normally weigh mere ounces between them. How much is the combined weight of those two tubes. It would surely be lighter to carry a decent lock.

If the bike could me made as light and rigid as a conventional bike then it might be a good idea. Otherwise, forget it.
