Jack Délano - The Man Who Colored The Forties

Jack Délano worked for the Farm Security Administration in the US during the early 1940s. His work as a photographer for the FSA was to document the social and working conditions of those affected by the Depression. Using full color photography techniques he amassed a considerable archive which contributed to public opinion and government legislation of the day.

These remarkable pictures still have the power to shape our ideas about what life was like seventy years ago during the last big economic downturn.
