Robert Ripley (1890 - 1949) was a cartoonist, explorer, reporter, adventurer, illustrator, collector and seeker of the odd and unusual, a man who lived a life that can only be summed up by the statement he himself created: 'Believe It or Not!'
There are several 'Ripley's Believe It or Not!' locations around the globe, but the location in St. Augustine is unique. This was the first Ripley's in a collection of museums.
