Iceland's Disruptive Volcano

Yesterday and today, many civil aviation authorities throughout Europe ordered their country's airspace closed because of a cloud of ash from a volcano in Iceland, forcing up to 6,000 flight cancellations across the continent.

The Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland has erupted for the second time in less than a month, melting ice, shooting smoke and steam into the air and forcing hundreds of people to flee rising floodwaters.

Here is a collection of photos of the most recent eruption, and of last month's eruptions, which were from the same volcano, just several miles further east.
