The 'Link' Scooter System is designed as a modular transport solution that can be retrofitted to existing Streetscape Smart Poles.
It allows users to hire a small lightweight
electronic scooter from a hub and ride to the desired destination and then return the scooter to another hub, where it is recharged.

I don't see this ever being adopted by any city, at least in Australia.
In most states this sort of vehicle (IE: powered with no brakes, lights or turn indicators) cannot be registered nor can it be ridden unlicensed.

Just to give you a quick update, this project is now one of thirteen Australian product concepts that have made it through into the global James Dyson Award- a competition that spans 21 countries to identify the best young inventors from around the world.
