There is a category of food which is slowly trickling through into mainstream cuisine. This is loosely referred to as 'weird foods.' Of course, what is weird for one person is absolutely common for another one.

Here are just some of the various weird, and not so wonderful food that people in the rest of the world take pleasure eating.

I'd venture to say that a lot of these "weird foods" seem to happen in countries that have had a historical period of famine. They seasoned up and cooked whatever was available.

Strange then, that once the country's out of the famine, these foods are sometimes considered delicacies -- instead of "what we ate when we had nothing else."
