World Names Profiler

Enter your surname in World Names Profiler and find its orgin and density on a world map. The site has been compiled by researchers from the University College London.


I found it to be quite accurate. I entered my surname and World Names Profiler said the Netherlands is the country were my name occurs most, which is correct. They also mentioned the province I live in as the top region for my name, which is also correct.

Not impressed. Didn't work great for my name. Apparently, they have no records of Quebecers. Strange since we have lots of records of births since 1660s.

I disagree. My wife's maiden name Heydt, looks right. It named her home county in Pennsylvania, where I know there are quite a few Heydts.
