Map Of Olympic Medals

Circles are sized by the number of medals that countries won in summer Olympic Games. Use the slider to view past Olympics, or click on a country to display a list of its medal winners.

That's nice, but I think a more interesting map would measure number of medals against population. Like, Australia's 20 medals is pretty f'n impressive when you stop to think the entire country has roughly the same population of the New York metropolitan area.

I see what you are saying, FMF, but that is just part of the olympics-- you can't sour grapes at guys like China for having the muscle of population!

Has anyone noticed that the number of medals per country is no olympic sport?? Borders are just lines adults draw on the earth. It is the sport that counts.
