Desire Paths


Desire Path: A term in landscape architecture used to describe a path that isn't designed but rather is worn casually away by people finding the shortest distance between two points.

Desire Path: A term in landscape architecture used to describe the natural result of landscapers' assumptions that people do not make turns over 90 degrees when walking around.
We have a ton of these at my college campus because whoever laid out the sidewalks thought students would just love to make all these acute angle zig zags on their way to class. It's rather unfortunate :-/
