The Growth Of Wal-Mart Across America
Wal-Mart is an American public corporation that runs a chain of large, discount department stores, and was founded by Samuel Moore Walton in Rogers, Arkansas, in July 1962.
Wal-Mart is an irresistible (or at least unavoidable) retail force with more than 7,250 stores, including about 975 discount stores, 2,800 combination discount and grocery stores, and 590 warehouse stores.
Wal-Mart has been criticized by some community groups, women's rights groups, grassroots organizations, and labor unions, specifically for its extensive foreign product sourcing, low rates of employee health insurance enrollment, resistance to union representation, and alleged sexism.

Um, those Wal-Marts I've seen in Massachusetts don't exist?
I worked at store #80 in Missouri 1979-81. It was one of the very few towns with TWO Wal*Marts (of course, now they only have one, but it's ten times as big).
Since then, I've seen what Wal*Mart does to small town business communities, and avoid them at all cost.
To the Massachusetts post... what are you talking about? The graphic very clearly shows multiple outbreaks of Wal-Mart in MA.
