FakeTV

FakeTV makes it look like you are home watching TV, even when you are not. FakeTV accurately simulates the light output of a real television. The effect of scene changes, fades, swells, flicks, on-screen motion, and color changes look just they came from a real TV.

From outside the house, it looks just like someone is watching a real television. The potential burglar thinks the home must be occupied, so he moves on to an easier target.

...or the thief thinks there is a good LCD TV inside to steal

FakeTV turns on automatically at dusk, stays on for 4 or 7 hours, depending on switch setting. It draws 3W of power. Also, all real TV's get gradually dimmer with use. That is why not just leave TV on while you go on vacation.

Big whoop. Spend a couple of bucks on a timer to turn your tv on or off automatically. Having it on for a few hours a night isn't going to increase your electric bill or diminish your tv significantly. And, heck--if you weren't on vacation, it'd be on anyway.

only lcd tv's get dimmer with use, crt's do not, while its very hip to have an lcd I think most people are still using crt at present, at least in my area.

But this would be a sweet idea for a rave or a party to have a wall of these faketvs. If the price is right, I didnt look.

Some of you wonder why a person wouldn't just use her regular TV - put a timer on the TV and it's just as good, right? Heck, maybe better for all I know. But you're assuming that everybody has a TV. We don't. And we will never have a TV. Can't stand television.

I might be tempted to get a fakeTV if they're really cheap.

Most TV's turn on with push-buttons and cannot be put on a timer. MSRP: $49.

3-Cheers for not watching TV-- it's a crashing waste of time! A FakeTV can repell burglars without making your brain numb.

Big Idea!
I could turn on my own real TV, but Electric power cost would be very expensive.
