The Air Car
After fourteen years of research and development, ex-Formula One engineer Guy Nègre has developed an engine that could become one of the biggest technological advances of this century. Tata, India's largest automaker, is set to start producing the world's first commercial air-powered vehicle.
The Air Car uses compressed air, as opposed to the gas-and-oxygen explosions of internal-combustion models, to push its engine's pistons. The Air Car, also known as the Mini-CAT, can be refueled in minutes from an air compressor at specially equipped gas stations and can go 125 miles for $3. The top speed will be almost 70 mph and the cost of the vehicle as low as $7000.
