You've all heard of Google's Map Street View by now. What you maybe didn't know is how they make these panoramic images. The company actually shooting the majority of the photos for Google's datasets, is named Immersive Media. Here's the Immersive Media Street Level View Mobile, in all of its glory.
The camera mounted on top is Immersive's own, patented 11-lens camera. Here's a demonstration of the various ways this system can capture and display immersive movies, as well as a description of how it works.
